How to Grow Fresh Air: 50 Houseplants That Purify Your Home or Office by Dr. B.C. Wolverton
In his book How to Grow Fresh Air, Dr. B. C. Wolverton shares research he did for the National Aeronautic and Space Administration on cleaning indoor air using house plants. The research was originally conducted for NASA as a way of improving air quality in space stations and long manned missions.
The book lists fifty plants, with easy charts for choosing the right type, based on their abilities and requirements for light, temperature, and water. Some of the best overall plants are the Areca Palm and Lady Palm, as well as Dracaenas and Chrysanthemums and my favorite, the Peace Lily.
